The Etowah Indian Mounds Historic Site contains one of the most intact historical sites of the Mississippian culture. This location was home to Native Americans between 1000 AD and 1550 AD. A plaza, a defensive ditch, a village area and six earthen mounds are here. A museum on the site desplays artifacts of this historic period.

This Visitors Center looks over the Etowah River and and the Allatoona dam. It has one of the most magnificent views in the area. The dam was built in 1950 by the Army Corps of Engineers. The center features a small museum which is filled with information about why the Allatoona dam was built.

The Battle of Allatoona Pass was fought October 5, 1864. The site of the battle remains one of the most well kept Civil War Battle sites, with undisturbed physical features and many of the original landmarks. As a Blue and Gray trail site, signs lead guests to trenches and earthen forts.
